WINTER OF 2008

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

Sorry, I keep talking about the weather, but it’s amazing how much snow this Valley has received. Tim was talking with a neighbor and he indicated he had not seen this much snow, this time of year, in the 18 years he’s lived here. We have another strom this evening and then back to “normal” [...]

WINTER HAS ARRIVED!

Wednesday, December 24th, 2008

Winter has arrived and in a big way – we’ve received about 16″ of snow in the yard (elv. 4,000 ft) within the past week and the cold weather is fore-casted until Jan. 1 – today we had sun for about an hour, no warmth just sun. The elk are coming down the hill and [...]

MONTANA’s CHILL

Saturday, December 13th, 2008

We’re experiencing a winter storm and the forecast is for bitter cold for the next few days. Last evening we had blizzard warnings asking people to stay off the roads and stay inside; with the  temperature range from -3 to -20;  I don’t believe the warning was necessary.  Today we have blowing snow with limited visibility.

Winter Day

Monday, December 8th, 2008

This is not my photo, but it looks like today – we’re just getting a little snow, and the forecast is that it should continue for the next four days.
Hunting season is over so the deer are starting to reappear, most morning we have several in the yard. I’m amazed how they know when to disappear [...]

FALL IS IN THE AIR

Monday, October 6th, 2008

Yes, I feel fall is just around the corner. We’ve had a few cool evenings with a  dusting of snow on the mountain tops. Trees near the ponds are just starting to turn gold, the shoemakes are crimson red along with the maples. Give us another week and we will be in full color.

SUMMER IN THE BITTERROOT VALLEY

Saturday, July 12th, 2008

The Bitterroot Valley is a bit cooler than usual, for this time of year – cool in the evenings and very pleasant 70’s-80’s during the day. Perfect for any activity you have planned.
Yesterday morning, our local, fawn entertained our breakfast guests by bounding in and out of the tall grass – we decided he/she was [...]

Montana Summer

Saturday, June 21st, 2008

The long awaited time has arrived – I saw a fawn on property – Mother had it in the tall grass, however I’ve not seen
it in a couple of days – Hopefully in a day or so, the Mother will feel comfortable enough to share her little one with us.
