BIRDING AND THE BITTERROOT RIVER
Canoeing or rafting down the Bitterroot River in June can be a birders delight. While floating along enjoying the sounds of the river you may very well spot a western tanager, or see a great blue heron fly over head, mergansers are often seen drifting on the current.
You can enjoy wildlife at every level – on the water, at the water’s edge, in shrubs, treetops and overhead. Morning and evenings are the most active for birds.
When you call and make a reservation at BIG SKY BED and BREAKFAST (1-800-953-3077) let us know you’re interested in floating the river and we will make the arrangements for you.
